Sometimes I find myself thinking of someone I used to know and wonder how she's doing. In this age of Google searches and Facebook stalking, it's hard to imagine you can't find someone from your past. But sometimes people just can't be found...

"You Could Be Happy" is a beautifully sweet and sad song by Snow Patrol that captures the spirit of wishing someone well, even though things didn't end well when you last saw each other. The first time I ever heard the track off their Eyes Open album I was struck by how universal it is to wonder about someone you once cared for so much.

The lyrics go like this:

Most of what I remember makes me sure

I know in my heart I will never ever see this person again...and I have no clue how she is doing these days, but I like to imagine that she is happy and well.

Well, I just lost 4.99 on a horrible, horrible movie, definitely the worst installment in the Resident Evil series (the first three of which I actually liked, but also watched while I had a really bad cold and was doped up on Nyquil).

I had MUCH more fun reading this after I went online to see if I was the only one who wanted her money back.

The ending definitely leaves you with the impression Afterlife is not the end...and that is probably not a good thing! Somehow, though, I imagine I will watch that installment as well...out of some morbid sense of curiousity or maybe just the hope that the fifth one will be better.

Today was sunny and well into the sixties, the kind of weather that teases and torments when you have to work inside all day. But I had off so I drove to the BWI trail in Anne Arundel County and watched the planes land and take off. With money tight these days, I don't travel that much so I like to go to the park/trail and imagine all the exciting places people are going to or have been.

I like to people watch a lot, but obviously it's impossible to see those people on the planes. That's where having a vivid imagination comes in handy!:)

 

"Yeah, uh....here's the thing about that. There's close and then there's Glenn Close."- Susan on last night's "Desperate Housewives"...


Poor Susan. She needs a new kidney and the only viable candidate so far is a man who's carried a twenty five year torch for her...ever since high school. He still keeps an old binder full of lots of rather personal photos of her in various poses from freshman to senior year.

It's a far creepier thing than Susan seems to realize; unless, of course, she just really wants that kidney and is hoping her former classmate is just a very friendly guy who just happens to want to move in next door.

The quote is instantly clear if you've ever seen a mean little film called "Fatal Attraction." But the way Teri Hatcher (having finally ditched Susan's goofy, over-the-top-in-trouble persona and gone for one with more compassion and maturity) said made it especially memorable.

...just finished watching "Mulholland Drive" again for the first time in almost five years and it dawned on me that it is a lot like "The Wizard of Oz" in at least one major way....so I Googled both film titles together and found a really interesting article...

Last night on "Chuck" (awesome episode!) the Jeffster decided to take matters into their own hands and confiscate the push mix cd of two parents-to-be and replace it with an impromptu live performance of "Push It." (see it here)

After I finished laughing (maybe the Nyquil I was on made it funnier than it really is?) I thought about an earlier comment the infamous fictional Buy More duo made to a nurse: "Without us, this kid is going to grow up listening to Snow Patrol...and Coldplay." (both groups said with the most disdainful tone imaginable.) I love both Snow Patrol and Coldplay, but I know a lot of people who would agree with that comment.

Jeffster: you either love 'em or hate 'em, but you just can't look away!:)
